Cultural Pot

Food is a powerful cultural element. It’s in this context that community cafes exhist in London. They offer communal spaces for migrants who wish to keep close to their roots, and manifest their home culture.

By investigating the areas where they exist, mapping and cataloguing, this ongoing project aims to be a counterpoint to platform capitalism, foregrounding real people and culture situated in space. The end of the publication will show indexes of food, services and languages.

Community cafes may represent the antithesis of a business model that favours chain restaurants, ghost kitchens and gentrification.
