To explore the theme in more depth I created a publication where the interviews sit in broader contexts. I used a glossary of terms related to delivery work, like the gig economy and platform capitalism.

Similarly to Projection 1 when I explored materials that belong in the food delivery universe, for Projection 2 I decided to make the zine an object resembling to a phone.

Rather then presenting the interviews in chronological order like the exhibition catalogue from projection 1, I used the alphabetical nature of the glossary to structure the publication, arranging the interviews next to relevant entries.

A few pages from the zine’s test print in a regular xerox printer. This iteration had a traditional introduction page, a photo of the exhibition from projection 1, interviews next to relevant glossary terms, and a support page based on my assumption that it could be distributed by delivery riders. Every iteration fom now on was set to risograph teal and fluo orange.
This iteration shows my first attempt to connect the glossary terms and interviews with relevant bibliography quotes. I framed these connections as (hyper)links since I wanted to explore the phone metaphor further.

Other nods to the phone were the cover size, slightly larger than the text block, like a case, rounded corners and text bubbles like in chats. I left ou these metaphors on following iterations since I wasn’t exploring the phone in any other way.

Poster insert with project description and images from my research. Spread with chat bubbles around interviews.
This next iteration has a bolder index on the cover and text spread across more pages, which shows clearly on the then introduction format.

Having fewer text on each page at the beginning acted as a guide to read the zine. Lines connecting the glossary terms with reflections on relevant bibliography.
Having the glossary on the cover was a subtle hint regarding the content. I tried a clearer suggestion on the first page with a spread-wide photo of delivery riders.
